Ive been writing a lot about the political lies the right wing tell in USA , both politicians and propaganda podcasts, as they dominate you tube .
It also infects NZ with Trump speak and liberal conservative culture wars being imported by the right wing from watching this divisive toxic and misinformation from the backwards political landscape of USA.
This isnt an attack on the right its an attack on the worst politicians and liars who happen to be on the right .
Peters has done sterling work in the past holding National party to account over corruption before leaving them then the winebox enquiry . I also applauded him attending the parliamen freedom protestors during covid and thought Labours attack on him dispicable here .But hes no longer any good for NZ, in fact id say hes harmful.
NZ doesnt have the same level of propaganda liberal conservatives USA has , it only has the Platform funded by millionaires as most propaganda platforms are The Wright Family It has 2 prominent right wing political parties thou.
Its fitting to focus on NZ for a change- Ive already covered Seymours and ACT here, now its Nationals other coalition partner lead by a kupapa Maori Winston Peters, NZ FIRST to be put under scrutiny.
While Seymours and his ACT party are the most neo liberal in the political spectrum conservatism is further right of liberalism which fascism comes from . NZ First is considered NZs most right wing conservative party thou we have the Conservative Party and another christian based party that must share that honour with their family values etc (we are fortunate they are to small to reach the 5% threshold so dont count as they dont get media attention).
When i study Winstons and NZ first rhetoric we can see they are very nationalistic and share some of Trumps values and rhetoric, which they are importing . Lying not just about government and the economy but in their anti socialist rhetoric and using derogatory words like woke to shut down political conversation or make a vague false enemy.

Shane Jones Im not going to stand (for any more honest speeches) says the politician who is literally standing.
Lets look at the first 7 half minutes of this verbose tirade which says nothing that couldnt be said in 2 minutes in a news conference. But instead he had to subject poor workers (probably Waihi gold miners) to this political campaign intended to brainwash public .Its worked , as you can look at the comments to the video.
This boils down to the right wing (current government) who dont believe in climate change, wanting to focus on business and growth forgoing looking after the ecology and climate. This is the old argument how much do we destroy the planet (ecology and atmosphere) for growth or do we accept less growth. Capitalism relies on growth . This is why the left , the socialists argue capitalism is not a good model for meeting our needs ie the economy. While its almost impossible to support capitalism and not promote growth.
You can have an argument over this -as politics and economics is all about compromises , what do i give up to get that. Except the science has all been but settled. Climate change was warned about in the 1890s , and scientifically discovered in the 1970s by Exxon mobile who then tried to cover it up . NZ signed up to the Kyoto Protocol in 1997 to limit to carbon to 1990 levels and brought into force in Feb 2005 , 20 years ago. Al Gores movie "An Inconvenient Truth " was released in 2006 and public opinion has changed and supported stopping climate change, just as it did for ending slavery and giving gay rights . The tide is in favour of halting if possible or at least mitigating climate change .
NZ signed the 2016 UNFCCC Paris accord limiting temperature rise to 1.5% above pre industrial levels (acknowledging capitalisms growth drive as the problem) , by a National Government who Jones ise now in coalition with . Maybe thats why they gave Jones the job . Thus showing Shane Jones and NZ First is a very conservative party not progressive.
Notwithstanding all that, and having to ignore it to make Jones argument he makes in his speech, what bothers me about Jones is hes a politician ,he doesnt make a honest factual argument . Hes a good politician ie lies and deceives, leaves out facts , avoids questions and manipulates you with his emotional flowery divisive language , hes arrogant like his boss (possibly part of his conservative persona). Hes the type we dont want in parliament.
