Re: Palestine state

Mr Peters,

It is time to move beyond delay and indecision—New Zealand should formally recognise the State of Palestine within the 1949 Green Line borders. Furthermore, New Zealand must call on the United Nations to recognise the Palestinian state, which already exists and has been declared and recognised by 157 countries—more than three-quarters of the international community.

There is no excuse now the UN has declared israel committing genocide , something pro Palestinians and justice seekers knew at least 21 months ago.

There should be no excuses or conditions for gaining Palestine statehood.

1) The main beligerent colonising state , is the state of israel, declared itself a state before it even had a fraction of the land it needed. It was recognised by multiple states as a state before it even had the land and permanent borders. So the example already exists.

USA was the first to accept the state of israel as a state on the day of declaration, followed by another 11 just in the first month of israels land acquisition war;

    USSR (May 17, 1948) , Czechoslovakia (May 18, 1948) , Nicaragua (May 18, 1948) , Poland (May 18, 1948) , Slovakia (May 18, 1948), Guatemala (May 18, 1948), Uruguay (May 18, 1948), Hungary (May 24, 1948), South Africa (May 24, 1948), Finland (June 11, 1948), Romania (June 11, 1948)

Altogether, at least 21 countries recognized Israel between May and December 1948, with another 33  before the Arab-israeli 1948-1949 war was even over, thats 54 states. While several armistice were signed between February 1949 and April 1949, the United Nations officially recognized the State of Israel on May 11, 1949, when Israel was admitted as a full member state through UN General Assembly Resolution 273.

2) Israel is one of the most aggressive and dangerous state actors in the world today. In the context of the Israel-Palestine conflict, the Israeli Occupation Forces (IDF) have inflicted far more destruction, displacement, and civilian deaths than any group in Gaza, including Al-Qassam. Unlike warfare between armed forces, Israel’s repeated and disproportionate targeting of civilian populations— with clear political objectives—meets the definition of terrorism. By sheer scale of civilian casualties and deliberate acts of collective punishment, Israel qualifies as the greater terrorist force in this conflict. Its daily theft of land in the West Bank, and now the attempt to do the same in Gaza, reveal that this is not a war of defence — it is a war of expansion. As long as the goal remains full colonisation of Palestine, resistance will continue. In fact, Israel’s actions seem intentionally designed to provoke that resistance, using it as justification for further war, further land theft, and permanent occupation. If this is not state terrorism, what is?

Terrorist acts committed by zionists and israel

King David Hotel bombing Jul 1946

Deir Yassin massacre 1948

In Sabra and Shatila massacre 1982
"Great March of Return," protest between 2018 and 2019. 227 Palestinians murdered

Since 7 Oct 2023 there have been reporters, medics, doctors, aid workers and children assassinated by the israeli occupation force (IDF) . Tens of thousands of women and children killed in bombing and other attacks since 7 Oct 2023 in clearly what is ethnic cleanising and genocide.

3) You designate the elected government of Gaza as terrorist , but not Israel , or its military the IDF

https://www.beehive.govt.nz/release/nz-designates-entirety-hamas-terrorist-entity

If youre going to declare the goverment of Gaza , Hamas, a terrorist organisation then you need to declare the government of israel or the ruling Lukid Party a terrorist organisation.
If you actually mean its Gazas military Al-Qassma then you need declare the IDF a terrorist organisation.

Only about one-third of the world’s countries classify Hamas as a terrorist organisation. At the same time, New Zealand remains in the minority by refusing to recognise the State of Palestine. Taken together, this puts New Zealand on the wrong side of global consensus. In a truly democratic and law-based international system, such positions would be seen as both undemocratic and illegitimate. But the world lacks a truly representative global authority. The United Nations — the closest thing we have — is neither democratic nor impartial, especially when it comes to Israel. It played a central role in creating this conflict and continues to enable its perpetuation through its structural bias and inaction.

Justice is not demanding the weaker side give up its arms in a peace delay , when the stronger more aggressive side , israel , does not have too. Gaza or Al-Qasam giving up arms will not stop the colonisation of remaining Palestine or the ending of ethnic cleansing when Netanyahu's goal is stealing all of remaining mandatory Palestine . Netanyahu has stood on no Palestine state since 1995.

Nor is it just to demand israel hostages back when israel holds way more Palestinian hostages . And, Netanyahu could have had the hostages back if he he wanted, if he had accepted Hamas negotiation terms . But genocidal coloniser Netanyahu only wants war and Palestine. Which he will do should Al-Qassam lay down its arms like the west bank.

Further its a serious crime of yours to deal with a war criminal Netanyahu when the only action for him is to be arrested and put on trial .

The United Nations was instrumental in creating the conditions that led to the crisis in Palestine, and New Zealand, as a member state, bears part of that responsibility. It is not only appropriate but necessary that both the UN and New Zealand take concrete steps to address and rectify the consequences of those actions.

Stop being a coward and prove you're not kupapa. Do the right thing by the indigenous of Palestine. I am not the only one saying it.
