Somethings going really wrong in USA politics - Election 2024

I try to avoid USA politics as its very ignorant, backwards and toxic, resulting in bitter and divisive arguments between 2 right wing parties . But Ive been drawn in by Trumps neo fascism just having written about fascism. And, theres also a worrying trend in the Europe moving right wing currently and Trump does echo that. 


USA ELECTIONS , WHATS WRONG ??

I literally finished a rant on whats wrong with Trump the day before the USA election and nek minute hes elected. To be honest I was not really following the election and only knew at one point it was neck and neck and was surprised when a friend said the bookies were favouring Trump. I try not to follow politics especially the backwards usa toxic stuff.

Trump has a preliminary win with 226 votes to 295 of the electoral vote which is the one that counts.

The blaming has started with the Democrats . USA americans had a terrible choice I did not envy . Neither party had any solutions. With Republicans endorsing a neo fascist candidate and the Democrat current vice president in opposition saying we need to defend democracy (from that fascist) . Thats the neo fascist or the anti fascist . Thats a sad sad state of affairs .

This is because neo-liberalism is a failing ideology when it comes to looking after workers and the society but if it increases GDP and wealth it goes to the 1% or billionaire class,  not the workers. Both USA right wing parties the Democrats and Republicans do NOT have an answer to that, so why did Trump get elected.






But it appears the real issues appear to be centered around what I said at the beginning of my "what's wrong with trump" blog post and that is the Democrats failed to deliver something different from establishment government looking after big business as usual. This is true of Republicans as well but Trump is also the republican anti establishment vote and the only one without Bernie Sanders running. It was the Democrat Party that got rid of Sanders in 2016 here and who chose Harris in 2024. It was unlikely Harris was going to go against Democrat party culture and she was a tough conservative, anti liberal prosecutor and was hardly ever going anti establishment .

Heres politically centre/centre right podcasters calling out the failure of Harris.

USA especially the right wing talk of the "left" or "far left" , when they are talking about the centre/ centre right and progressives , as USA doesnt have a far left (least compared to the normal western world). The Democrat party arent left wing (just left of Republican party) . These positions of "extreme left" arguing for transgender arent the far left.

Even thou Trump is as much or more for the billionaire class as Harris - he ran as thou he was for the workers. Even thou in his last term he wasnt really better.

Democracy erodes 

Jesse Dollemore discussed on his podcast,  that Trump tweeted that he sought to bypass democracy by appointing cabinet officials and Judges and others without Senate confirmation, advocating for Senate recess appointments to sidestep the legal process and safeguards without the usual confirmation procedure. Steve Vladeck responded, pointing out that with Republicans holding a 53-47 majority in the Senate, Trump’s push for recess appointments would allow him to appoint extreme radical figures to his cabinet—individuals who likely wouldn’t pass through his own party’s senators approval.  Michael Popok added on his podcast, Trump wants current Republicans to stall current Democrats from filling these positions with their moderate choices.

The final word  comes from Norman Fenklestein ;  Who says that USA wont turn to fascism. The socialist argument is when liberal democracy and its capitalism fails the public turn turn the further left or to the left the socialists or the communists as happened in Germany when they elected Hitler.  Fascism coming from conservatism makes it reactionary. What Finklestein said was Fascism being  rectionary means it reacts to the communists and socialists as a threat [not reacting to the depression .failure of liberalism ] , but theres no left in USA, theres no socialist or communist in any strong political way like Germany had to react against so theres no need for an authoritarian leader like Hitler.
