Is anyone else mad at governments scamming over motor vehicle license (MVL) ?
In a normal contract you can not be charged for goods or service you do not receive or agree to. Yet NZTA continuous licensing means you do .When your MVL runs out and you dont exempt it your still have to pay MVL even when youre not using your car because its deemed still continuing as unpaid invoice.
And if youre using your vehicle and dont know your MVL has expired you can get a fine for no MVL and you still have to buy/pay it.
And when youre driving the car and get a unlicensed MV fine you get demerit points . Enough and you lose your driving license from not paying your MVL tax.
And of course if youre not using your motor vehicle and you forget to exempt it or for any other reason you dont pay MVL for 12 months, NZTA deregisters your vehicle without your consent and if its a cheapie its only good for scrap and you still have to pay outstanding MVL.
It looks like a case of heads I (NZTA) win tails you lose and an all round money grabbing scam that surely beaks contract law just to catch a few people who take a couple weeks or months to renew their MVL.
