Is it surprising when parliament is so corrupt ; MPs fight ,argue and name call like little children in debating chamber instead of addressing issues while 120 MPs own 248 houses , read here , those MPs benefit from the housing crisis and have no incentive to fix it . The worse culprit is National Party MPS , read here.
In
2014 , 729,560 people
or 23.2% of those
registered to vote did not vote in the NZ National elections.
This webpage and party was initially set up for the purpose of giving those registered but did not vote in 2014 , a chance to make a protest vote in the future - in the spirit the McGillicuddy Serious Party once enabled . This is so it can be recorded that you specifically haven't voted because you are disillusioned with the parliamentary process, that there is little difference between any of the current political parties in choice of coke or pepsi (Labour v National or whichever other party) in NZ or that there is no real democracy because government does not act for the voter or do the right thing because it always puts business and profit before people. You no longer believe and recognise that the Parliament is capable or able to, or even willing to solve all the economic problems in our capitalist, free market government moderated economy or telling the truth about the problems itself.
Since this was first written there
have been 2 elections and while the % of
those not voting has decreased in the last 2 elections putting Labour in
Government . In 2017 20.99% and
2020 18.46% didn’t vote. Yet the 25- 39 year olds , the
modern generation, still remain the most dissatisfied with the system, with over twice the amount not voting as over
60 year olds who most likely vote for security and safety just about or having
retired and relying on the pension.
Perhaps these people decided the stakes were high
enough to require voting. Regardless there must also be many disillusioned
people who pick the lesser evil government , choosing coke over pepsi but
still want a better alternative.
Those who say "if you don't vote you are
not entitled to a say" are wrong. If there is no party worth voting for
then you have a right not to vote and not consent to government you do not like making decisions
for you. Fortunately we are not coerced into voting, unlike Australia.
But there are several problems with not voting, by not voting you are:
1) Allowing manipulation by politicians and the media , who say they cannot
differentiate between those who don't vote as protest or
those who believe their party would either win or not get elected and one vote
wont change that or those simply just lazy and cant be bothered .
You don’t hear people especially in politics and the news saying “why aren't they voting” all you hear is “democracy would work better if we convince them to vote”. I know , its hard to believe they are that stupid , the alternative is they are trying to manipulate you for their own ends.
2) In
theory the government has only the rights you give it , through your voting. Or
else it would merely dispense with voting and become totalitarian. A government
is in the minority and the voters make the majority. If voters or the public wanted to break all
the rules together and ignore government they could as government doesn’t actually
have the power to stop them should they decide to act together . The problem is who will make the first move ? A protest party is a good way
3) While government states in their May 2012 parliamentary /brief on legislation “The law is the framework within which citizens consent to be governed, having elected their law-makers”, therefore you have agreed with its said “laws” (legislation) by voting for MPs and political parties . And therefore by inference by not voting you have not agreed to its said “laws” (legislation). But that’s not how government acts in practical terms. For it claims rights and authority it is not entitled too, especially easy to do if it has miss-educated and manipulated you.
4) Most importantly
You allow others to choose your government and how
it runs NZ , because the Government is chosen without you. And the
government writes legislation (said laws) that say what rules you need follow ,
employment rules, OSH , road rules ,
covid19 rules etc – some you cant get out
of even if praticing common law . Apart from rules government directs the economy and social cohesion of
society , ie interferes in your life at work and play even if you have not
voted and given your consent for it to write legislation. Apart from writing
legislation , government sets tax rate , ecology protection, budgets on ecology, roads
, health , teaching etc , minimum wage, interest
rates (thru reserve bank) , reinforces/expands or reduces neo-liberalism , monetary
versus other policy's etc Principally a lot of things that effect you even if
you think you are escaping government interference by practicing common law or
being an anarchist
Who is VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE PROTEST [VONCP] for ?
While VONCP was set up for non voters it equally applies to those teetering or vascillating between the main tweedle dumb and tweedle dee parties and to those thinking of voting for minor parties .
There are many minor parties, that are neither wanting to change anything like the TOP party , take us backwards like New Conservatives or are single issue parties around environment, conspiracys, covid19 , religion or freedom which are bascially protest parties. While they have real concerns, those party votes will be spread out between these differing and disparate minor parties and ideas and be wasted . Not so with VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE PROTEST which is genuine protest.
Those parties listed here.
Purpose
By creating a VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE PROTEST party
and putting a protest option on the ballot box , if the vote numbers are high enough it may prevent a coalition
government forming because if a large % of those previously not voting
voted , the 2 main parties would need a larger % to form a government , which
they may fail at doing.
This would
get every political players attention and start some serious discussion about
what is actually wrong in society with depression/suicide, crime, poverty , inequality, economy etc and
its causes, that even the establishment corporate media could not avoid. We may
get some truth out there .
The Politics for Dummies is written to give you some background facts you may not know or know but not fully when voting or not voting. If VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE PROTEST had one single aim it would be to bring that information with-held from you more into mainstream through education system and the media and political discussion .
To create a party to stand in an election needs 500 members so if you agree or just want to give it a go and see how it turns out message me and i will add you in to the closed Facebook members loop.
The motto of this party is:
"vote for me i will do absolutely nothing"
Which means on the of chance of reaching 5% threshold and getting some list MPs, this party promises not to engage in the parliamentary process.
This is not a vote of a particular political party or MP in government it is a vote against government itself in its current form and system it runs .
